Unified Data Format

The database is built on a unified and interoperable data structure – the open Building Data Format.

When reporting or collecting data, a well-defined and harmonized data structure, known as a data model, is necessary for comparable analytics, to make meaningful evaluations between building data, draw reliable conclusions and make informed decisions.

OpenBDF aligns with and incorporates best practice from leading initiatives such as RICS, ECHO, and SLiCE, and utilizes the LCAx data schema. The aim is to ensure compatibility with other prominent schemas, and to seamlessly integrate with existing data protocols and reporting standards.
