Our Objectives

10.000+

buildings publicly featured in the Open Building Data Platform

1.000+

advanced, high-definition life cycle assessments with reduction measures defined

100 Mt

Mt of CO2e emission reductions unlocked through effective WLC policy support

Our Approach

Global cooperation & inclusion

We facilitate global cooperation for establishing life cycle data for diverse regions to create comprehensive global buildings datasets, with special attention for including partners in the Global South.

Open data & development

We trust in the power of open science and open data to help democratize climate action. Open-source development and coordinated, open data protocols drive GBDI’s technical ecosystem.

Customization & Scalability

We offer open interfaces, scalable infrastructures and custom integrations. With a focus on resource use and embodied emissions in building structure, our formats and platform support comprehensive whole building life cycle assessments.

Phase 1

2024

Phase 2

2025

Phase 3

2027

Design and development of the foundational methods and tools powering the Global Building Data Initiative.

Scaling and implementation to support partners in setting data-informed benchmarks and tangible targets.

Advancing assessment methods and data reporting to support monitoring of WLC performance along policy pathways.
